I’ve been into the latest technology since I was a kid and my dad brought home a Commodore 64. Fast forward to 2007 and witness Apple’s latest trend-setting device, the iPhone. This thing is going to revolutionize the mobile industry. A device that allows you to accomplish virtually every task you could on your PC, minus the boredom of sitting at a desk. iPhone has so many up to date features that you almost forget that it can be used as a phone too. As sad as it may be one of the features I am most looking forward to is the Visual Voice mail because it allows you to go directly to any of your messages without listening to the prior messages.

Imagine using a touch screen that allows you to make calls and check your voice mail by choosing which message you listen to. The good old days of 3-way calls are history. With the iPhone you simply merge calls together like you would a conference with your instant messenger. There’s a QWERTY soft keyboard that will correct your mistakes. iPhone has a 2 mega pixel camera that will crush any pic from other phone cameras.

Ebay and Google’s Blogger.com have teamed up to provide access to all updates and accessories that are available. eBay’s iphone blog can also send you the latest features just by clicking on the RSS feeder that is in the URL browser.

iPhone is also a widescreen iPod where you can enjoy typical iPod features.
All on a beautiful 3.5-inch widescreen display. Purchasing accessories can also customize your iPhone and give it personality. You’ll be able to sync your content from the iTunes library on your PC or Mac. The built-in Google and Yahoo! Search tools make surfing the web seem effortless. And iPhone enables you to read a web page while downloading your email in the background over Wi-Fi or EDGE.

Google Maps and iPhone’s Maps to view maps and satellite images from anywhere, or get directions and traffic information, all from iPhone’s remarkable, easy-to-use touch interface. The ability to access up-to-date info from stock reports and weather reports gives users incredible flexibility.

A new consumers poll seems to prove the point that both the iPhone is extremely popular and the Apple computer company is making a huge impact in the computer world.

Great News For Apple, Ominous News For Dell in New Consumer PC Survey

Back in June, a ChangeWave consumer survey saw an Apple “halo effect” on the way for Mac computer sales, due in part to all of the advance publicity and hype surrounding the release of the iPhone. At that time it appeared as though there was a transformational shift taking place in the consumer PC marketplace.

According to ChangeWave’s latest consumer PC survey - conducted August 1-8, 2007 - the enormous impact of that transformational shift is now clear, and the news is great for Apple (AAPL) and ominous for Dell (DELL).

The survey of 3,665 ChangeWave Alliance members began by asking those who bought a computer in the past 90 days which manufacturer they had bought it from. The survey then asked those planning to buy a computer in the next 90 days which manufacturer they’d be buying from.

In an ongoing alteration of the consumer PC landscape, Apple laptop sales have surged to a new all-time high over the past 90 days - up from 12% in June to 17% currently - an unprecedented 5-point move. Apple desktop sales (7%; down 1-pt) have been solid but unspectacular during that same time period.

Going forward, planned Apple Mac purchases over the next 90 days reveal more of the same ahead for Apple. A total of 28% of respondents who plan to purchase a laptop say they’ll get a Mac - mirroring the brisk momentum originally seen back in June. Another 23% say they’ll buy an Apple desktop - up 1 point from the previous survey.

“These results are great news for Apple, and they serve as powerful evidence that the ‘halo effect’ is indeed translating into real world Mac computer sales for Steve Jobs and company,” said Tobin Smith, founder of ChangeWave Research and editor of ChangeWave Investing.

If the news for Apple can be described as great, then the news for Dell would certainly be described as ominous. After a surprising uptick for the box maker in ChangeWave’s June survey, Dell’s market share is once again taking a huge hit.

Only 30% of purchasers say they bought a Dell desktop in the past 90 days. This represents a 7-pt drop for Dell since June - down to the second-lowest percentage it’s recorded for desktops in a ChangeWave survey. Similarly, Dell laptop purchases (24%) have fallen 4-pts to a new all time low.

What about Dell’s outlook for the next 90 days? That too appears troubled. The survey results show planned desktop purchases (31%) falling 5-pts to a new all-time low. The only potential bright spot for Dell is in its planned laptop purchases (29%), which have inched up 1-pt since June - although they too are near a record low.

It is important to note that most of Dell’s revenue comes from corporate PC sales. The next ChangeWave corporate IT purchasing survey–currently in the field–will shed light on whether Dell is gaining or losing in the all-important corporate marketplace.

Another prominent PC maker worthy of mention here is Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), whose desktop share appears quite stable among consumers. A total of 26% who purchased a desktop over the last 90 days say they bought an H-P - up 1-pt from June. After peaking in ChangeWave’s June survey, however, H-P laptop purchases (25%; down 2-pts) have edged back slightly.

In a positive sign for H-P going forward, the findings show a big 5-pt jump in planned H-P desktop purchases for the next 90 days (28%). In a more mixed result, H-P laptop purchases going forward (25%; down 3-pts) have pulled back somewhat from their previous all-time highs.

Overall these are positive consumer results for Hewlett-Packard. H-P desktop sales are up going forward, and while laptops have come back slightly off their June highs - most likely due, in part, to increasing competition from Apple - they nonetheless appear relatively healthy.

Perhaps the most impressive finding for Apple in this survey is its outstanding customer satisfaction rating. A whopping 86% of those who bought an Apple computer over past 90 days report being “Very Satisfied” with their purchase, by far the highest of any manufacturer.

On the flipside, Dell is dead last among PC makers when it comes to customer satisfaction. In fact, only 44% of those who bought a Dell over the past 90 days report being “Very Satisfied” with their purchase, down 9-pts since June.

Once again - more great news for Apple; more ominous news for Dell.

Instead of buying expensve die-cut patterns over and over again, trace your die-cuts before you use them for future use. Also consider using cookie-cutters as a die-cut pattern.

Is America ready for the abortion trumping Ron Paul He is on the war path when it comes to standing up for his core beliefs. And although i see nothing wrong with many of his positions, I’m just not sure the majority of Americans are ready for him and his principles.

By Mike WarnerIn a previous article I wrote that abortion is a non-issue. If Ron Paul becomes president he can not overturn Roe vs. Wade, period. Only the Supreme Court could do that. The fact that the president can not overturn a Supreme Court ruling makes the issue virtually immaterial to the presidential election. Every election cycle we go through this. Using an issue like abortion as a litmus test, when the president has virtually no control over it, degrades the quality of the election. Yes, I know that if enough conservative judges get on the Supreme Court, that could eventually happen. None the less, I believe our country has reached a critical junction in time. The future existence of our country is whats at stake, to me, when comparing whether or not the President of our country favors abortion, vs. our future existence, I will not pick abortion.

Every leader in the Democratic Party, including Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards are in favor of socialism. Read Mein Kampf if you don’t believe me. Democrats believe we can’t wisely run our own lives or spend our own money.. They believe that since they are so much smarter than the average American, it is only right for them to reach into our pockets and spend our money for us. Democratic politicians may believe in a right to choose, but only for abortion. On every other issue, they are more than willing put controls on us. One of the big issues for Democrats is health care. I have lived in Europe and have had many German friends. All of my German friends felt that they were taxed to much and would have rather have had a system similar to what we have. Germans pay almost 50% of their income in taxes. A good indicator that our system of Democracy is working is, people all over the world want to come here and do, some illegally. I can’t think of one country that 12-20 million Americans are willing to go to illegally, while millions more Americans wait in line to legally immigrate.

So that brings us to the Republicans. “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” I don’t remember if that is a quote that I should be attributing to someone. Anyway, that pretty much describes the current Republican party. Conservatives are supposed to believe in a small government, low taxes and personal freedom. As we all know that ain’t what we’ve been getting. The front runners in the Republican race for president, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson, are all entrenched with the Washington insiders that are spending the American taxpayers money and expanding the size of government daily.

The biggest reason why I don’t trust any of these people, The North American Union. Our politicians are all in bed with big business and what big business wants, it gets. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent every year to influence politicians to do the bidding of big business. Big business wants the United States, Mexico and Canada to form one country similar to the European Union, all in the name of profits.

There is only one man running for president right now that will protect the sovereignty of our country and follow our constitution in everything he does, Ron Paul. With Ron Paul, there will be no North American Union, no expansion of government, no raising of taxes and no erosion of personal freedoms. We know that because we study his voting records and realize he is the real deal. American Freedom

Since we have been talking about the Apple iPhone I thought we should just continue along.  With the growing popularity of the new Apple iPhone, Chinese manufacturers have suddenly found their backs against the wall.  There seems to be a huge demand for certain components of the iPhone and the manufacturers just can’t keep up.

Samsung Flash Shortage And Apple iPhone Sales Hit China Electronics Where It Hurts

Electronics wholesaler Chinavasion.com reports that in Mainland China, flash prices have leapt by over two US dollars per flash module in the last fortnight, after over ten months of healthy sales and ongoing price drops during 2006 and the first half of 2007.

Although speculation about the exact reasons for the dramatic price rises is rife, it seems clear that a major contributor is a factory power outage recently experienced by Samsung in Korea.

In a series of press releases, Samsung admitted that on August 4th a flash memory factory near Seoul suffered a power failure lasting several hours. Such a power outage, although apparently fixed quickly, could have set production back a week or more, meaning a world shortage of flash, and multi-million dollar losses that Samsung needs to offset with price hikes.

Says Chinavasion.com Public Relations Manager Rose Li: “Flash memory prices are known to be volatile, but this jump in prices is unusually severe and sudden. Chinese manufacturers and wholesalers are really feeling a negative impact this time and what’s bad for the China electronics industry is also going to have repercussions for consumers worldwide.”

August and September are usually hot times for factories in South China’s electronics manufacturing cities like Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Guangzhou, but this month business has taken a hit from the high price of flash memory. “Some MP3 Player factories we know here in Shenzhen have already been forced to close down, because their orders just dried up with these high prices,” revealed Rose Li.

A compounding factor in the current flash prices issue is the recent release - and massive popularity - of Apple’s iPhone. The iPhone uses multiple flash memory chips, and with impressive global sales figures, Apple is said to be consuming as much as 25% of global flash memory supplies as they try to keep up with consumer demand for the gadgets.
The electronics manufacturing cities of China have hundreds of small factories producing unbranded personal media players, and some say that Apple’s flash-buying strategy is designed to cause a shortage for their competitors selling China MP4 Players.

“MP4 Player sales are down at the moment because of these prices, but it’s not just the Chinese manufacturers who are suffering. Wholesale importers are holding off buying products in the hope prices will come down again, and this is going to cause delays, shortages, and eventually higher prices in the Western retail market in the run-up to Christmas.” Commented Chinavasion’s Rose Li.

Sources inside China and Taiwan are conflicting about the likely duration of the high memory prices. One eBay Powerseller was quoted as saying “flash memory prices are too easy to fix by the big suppliers, and the prices could just as easily drop again next week”. Chinavision.com in its news blog advised global buyers to check prices regularly and not leave it too late to stock up for the end of year retail peak.
